Science Research: Inquiry and Experimentation (10 weeks)

Joel and Roxanna Thomas have been teaching  Science Research Classes for 10 years and are bringing their expertise to the new Homeschool Resource Center this fall. Students will complete several research projects as we focus on the scientific method. Learn how to develop a question, form and test a hypothesis, analyze data, and present results. At the end of the class, students will have the opportunity to enter their projects in a science fair at the resource center in cooperation with Glen's Hands-On Gizmos.
The specific focus will vary by grade.  Younger students will learn to form testable questions, plan experiments and carry them out.  Older students will focus on more abstract concepts including testing methods, data analysis and presentation of results.  All teaching at the center assumes a Christian worldview and that God is evident through scientific study.  See: Romans 1:20.

Cost:
While our classes may not be the cheapest you'll encounter, they will be the best. The memories and high academic impact are far reaching. At Glen's Gizmos we have extensive resources and experience. We put this equipment and expertise to work for you. Expenses vary by age, mostly related to equipment and consumable costs. Laboratory supplies are a significant portion of the expense in many classes.

Each class fee has three parts. The first two are paid directly to Glen's Gizmos (Joel and Roxanna), they include payment for an instructor and materials. The third part is an admin fee per class hour. This portion of the bill will be paid separately to the resource center either before or after paying Glen's Gizmos. Generally it is $2 per class hour for member families and $4 for non members. This makes most 10 week hour long classes an extra $20 or $40. Admin fees pay directly for operations at the Homeschool Resource Center and keep the lights on. If you have questions about the admin fee or membership please contact the Resource Center and visit the FAQ Page.

Marine Biology (10 weeks)

Joel and Roxanna Thomas have been teaching marine biology classes for over 10 years and are bringing their expertise to the new Homeschool Resource Center this fall.  Dive into this study of marine life and ecosystems. Focusing on both live and preserved specimens in the classroom, we'll learn about the God given characteristics allowing each species to thrive in its unique niche. At the end of the course, families will have the opportunity to take a trip to Boiler Bay Research Reserve and Hatfield Science Center with the instructor.
The specific focus will vary by grade.  Younger students will study marine habitats, species and relationships.  Older students will focus on more abstract concepts.  All teaching at the center assumes a Christian worldview and that God is evident through his creation.  See: Romans 1:20.

YEARBOOK: Outdoor School for Homeschoolers 2012

7/26/2016

Order Yearbooks Here!
Picture
Your yearbook is ready! Each book contains more than 100 colorful pages, full of memories. We were able to bring the cost down to $30, that's less than 30¢ a page!  Buy them as keepsakes. Consider purchasing copies for your family, children, grandparents and friends.

Help Us Out: Roxanna and I funded the $600 cost to design the book, but need your help paying to design the next yearbook. We must sell 40 copies to break even.  If every family who attended camp in 2012 bought a book and a few families purchased 2 or 3 copies we would break even and be able to afford the next yearbook.
Thanks for joining us at Twin Rocks back in 2012 and for purchasing yearbooks to make this project possible! - Joel and Roxanna Thomas
