Flint Knapping Club (Monthly)
Ages: This activity is not good for young children as it involves sharp natural glass that gets everywhere. Responsible students 3rd grade and older will be the most successful. Younger kids will need constant parent supervision for safety, but are welcome to attend as part of the family. All youth must take directions and safety seriously or they will be asked to sit out.
When: Usually the first Tuesday of every month.
From 6:30-7:30pm
Here are the fall dates:
August 6, September 3, October 8 (not the 1st Tuesday), November 5, December 4 (not the 1st Tuesday), spring dates TBD.
Cost: A free club to join! Register here through our shopping cart to join the club so we know to keep you up to date then you may choose to attend any of the monthly knappings. The materials and equipment are provided including safety equipment if you can not provide your own. Please recognize the rock material is free to pick up, but does cost a fair bit in fuel and time to acquire and the purchase and maintenance of our equipment does carry a cost. If you feel led to do so please make a donation at the time of the meeting (knapping) via check or cash. We are counting on your gifts to keep this club going and make it accessible to everyone.
At least one parent/guardian must be present with each youth under 18 years of age.
If the weather is good the knapping will happen outside, if it is poor it will be indoors, or in a tent.
Location: Glen's Gizmos Homeschool HUB
Adults may join without youth. Especially in this case please recognize Glen's Gizmos is a Christian organization. We don't require participants to be Christian to attend our events, however we do ask that your words and actions are positive and not contradicting basic Christian principles as outlined in the Bible. This includes but is not limited to religious practices, interaction with youth, being sober, no drugs/alcohol, appropriate dress and language (no swearing or vulgar/disrespectful content). Remember children will be present. If at anytime a Glen's Gizmos staff or official volunteers feel a participant poses a threat to others spiritual, emotional or physical safety they will be asked to leave, and must leave immediately.
After selecting the number of family members who are likely to attend knappings please leave the "Quantity" at 1 for one family.

General Pet Care : All about the HUB pets!
Come have fun, make friends (humans or animals!) and get hands on opportunities with seven different species around the HUB!
Whether you already have a pet(s) or you're looking for information to help you choose the right addition, this class will benefit all ages/students. Research shows pets can do more than just bring you joy and keep you company...It suggests they can also reduce risk of asthma and allergies, decrease stress, improve heart health, and even help children with their emotional and social skills.
Using hands on activities, your student(s) will learn what it takes to care for the different pets, how to handle the animals and how to help each species thrive. Each week we will feature a different HUB species/pet. Parents are welcome to join and ask any questions you may have. We encourage parents to participate in the pre-k class.
