Intro to Leathersmithing - Upper Elementary to Adults / Fri 1:30-2:30pm

$100.00

Weekly 60 minute classes.

Learn this art from a professional leathersmith!

Participants will learn basic skills : cutting, measuring, stitching and just taking joy in simple creativity as they craft their own items including one-of-a-kind leather journals!

Students can take this class independently, though we expect it will also appeal to parents so we are allowing adults to register as well. Leathersmithing often provides a great opportunity for teens to socialize and make new friends!

If parent's are going to be creating their own crafts and participating alongside their students then both need to be registered independently. If they are there to assist their child then only the child needs to be registered. If registering a child under 11 years old please plan on sticking around for the first class to check in with the instructor and make a plan. The fine motor skills may require parent help for young students. You can also email Kav in advance at sojoleatherco@gmail.com to ask questions and make arrangements.

Check our calendar for details. This class will follow the Quarterly calendar, except for third quarter which will only be five weeks for this class starting on March 5th for Third Quarter. Fourth Quarter will be 7 weeks and follow our calendar. The calendar can be seen posted here.

Join professional leather smith Kav as she teaches the class how to make a variety of objects from leather. Having a professional leathersmith on board means students will get the best materials and equipment to use in class. Each student will complete multiple projects to take home as their skills improve. With her vast skill set and library of projects Kav will be introducing new projects each quarter. Students will learn basic skills including cutting, measuring, stitching and simply finding joy in God given creativity!

My name is Kati but those that are close to me call me Kav!
I am a Jill of most trades but master of one (but I’m always improving!). I come way of Texas roots, Himalayan blood flow, grounded in Rocky Mountains and PNW tree lines. I love labs and hiking because it deepens my connection with the earth and the One who made me. I'm the owner of SoJo Leather Co. I make everything at Sojo by hand, one stitch at a time. It’s a slow process, but I function like a tortoise so it’s ok. I believe in hustling to make things work.

When it comes to leather goods, I care about our products and the story behind them. Each of our pieces are one of a kind heirlooms, never again to be exactly recreated.

All teaching at the Homeschool HUB aligns with a Christian worldview and that God is evident through his creation.  See: Romans 1:20.  Please email questions to Joel@glensgizmos.com.
