Family Outdoor Schools

Homeschooling family friendly outdoor schools offer opportunities to explore Creation!
For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.  Romans 1:20
“A scientific discovery is also a religious discovery. There is no conflict between science and religion. Our knowledge of God is made larger with every discovery we make about the world.” Joseph H. Taylor, Jr. (received the 1993 Nobel Prize in Physics)

Even with a strong academic focus we’ll find time to build community, learn about God, and play.  Throughout the week we will have opportunities to practice outdoor skills, sing silly songs, perform skits, make new friends, play games, and worship together. Family Outdoor Schools offer experiences you won't find anywhere else and memories to cherish forever. Invite friends and family to join us for a fantastic week of learning, fun, and adventure!

Please contact us if you have any questions, we love reconnecting with families and meeting new ones.

Join us for this four day trip to the heart of rockhounding in the Pacific Northwest. The Ochoco National Forest in the center of Oregon has some of the best places to find treasures including rocks, minerals and fossils.  Your family can be part of the adventure! Together we will learn about rocks and minerals, hunt for them in the field, then cut and polish many of them to bring home as lifelong keepsakes. All of the teaching will be from a Christian worldview and we look to give glory to God (Romans 1:20).
Experts will be arriving to teach everything from elementary trips to find petrified wood and agates to high school classes focusing on lapidary skills.  We will even arrange for families to meet us at the legendary Richardson's Rock Ranch on the way to camp to dig thunder eggs (optional and may cost more depending on what is purchased by the family).  During the week families will be encouraged to take a short drive from camp to the Lucky Strike Mine to dig other incredible rocks, including what are among the most sought after thunder eggs in the world!  Did you know thunder eggs are the Oregon State rock?  Another optional trip will be to dig fossils located nearby.  There are several types of fossils nearby including limb casts, plant fossils, crabs and snails and more.

Pat Roy will be one of our experts and is the co-founder of Creation Quest along with his wife, Sandy and two kids Summer, and Melody. Pat spent 12 years as the radio producer of the Institute for Creation Research (ICR).

He began at ICR when Ken Ham was in charge of the radio department. When Ken left, Pat became the Director of Broadcast media.

During that time, he and his wife, Sandy, created Jonathan Park, a kid's radio drama which put all that Pat had learned and continued to learn about 7 day literal creation into a format kids could understand and enjoy. From there, Pat and Sandy created Creation Quest teaching classes and producing a new radio drama called Time Chroniclers.

Venture with your family into the beautiful Ochoco National Forest at the heart of Oregon this summer.  On this trip we will exploring Creation in new ways with Dr. Gordon Wilson a herpetologist from the Riot and the Dance, along with numerous other volunteer and professional teachers.  Our focus will be on identifying numerous species of animals and plants and catching many of them for closer observation.   We will even be dissecting a few preserved specimens focusing on the God given characteristics allowing them to fill an essential niche in their environment.

Together we will capture and learn about reptiles, amphibians, insects, birds, plants and more guided by expert scientists.  Learn to press plants and pin bugs for collections! We will also be taking a close look at rocks, minerals and soils.  All of the teaching will be from a Christian worldview and we look to give glory to God (Romans 1:20).

One of our experts will be Dr. Gordon Wilson author and narrator of the movie Riot and the Dance.  Follow along with Dr. Gordon Wilson as he traverses our planet, basking in God’s masterpieces whether he’s catching wildlife in his own back yard or in the jungles of Sri Lanka.  Even if you don't get to see the film Roxanna and I have known Dr. Wilson for some time now and can tell you his teaching is excellent.  Join us at our Family Outdoor School this summer!
